Friends University seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position within the Division of Business beginning Fall 2022.  This position is a nine-month contract, and reports to the Division Chair, College Dean, the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, and the University President in ascending order.  

A Ph.D. or Doctorate degree in economics or finance is strongly preferred. A Master’s degree (in these preferred disciplines) will be considered for those with significant academic and/or business experience.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Doctoral degree in Economics or Finance is strongly preferred.  Individuals who are ABD or nearing completion of a doctoral degree are eligible to apply. 
  • Individuals who hold a master’s degree in economics or finance with significant professional experience will also be considered. 
  • Preferred Professional Experience:
    • 3-5 years in a management position in a preferred discipline.
    • 3-5 years teaching at the collegiate level in a preferred discipline.
    • Professionally recognized certifications in a preferred discipline.
  • An understanding of adult teaching and learning principles.
  • Experience or training in academic course design and curriculum development.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems.
  • The ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment.
  • The ability to adapt and champion a changing culture.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  • The ability to solve problems and think critically.
  • Experience with conflict management and resolution.
  • Candidate must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the university.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Represent the DBIT at university functions and community events.
  • Teach classes in various subjects including economics, finance, and other business related classes as required.
  • Actively engage in recruiting activities in collaboration with enrollment team.
  • Advise students to ensure academic success, internships, and career placement.
  • Provide community visibility for the DBIT and business programs.
  • Be responsible for program design and curriculum development for all delivery methods including, but not limited to, on ground, online, SEL, blended, seminar, etc.
  • Develop syllabi, textbooks, course materials, Moodle (learning management system) content, etc.
  • Serve as liaison for students, faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Implement the program assessment and improvement plans.
  • Serve on university committees as appointed and regularly attend meetings.
  • Teach a regular load of classes each semester, per the faculty handbook.
