The Department of Soil and Water Sciences at the University of Florida has an opening for a full-time postdoctoral associate in the field of coral microbiology.

The successful applicant will join a multi-disciplinary team to investigate changes in the coral microbiome under low oxygen conditions. The NSF-funded (Award # 2048914) position will be based on the Gainesville campus of the University of Florida. The post-doc will work under the direction of Dr. Julie Meyer ( https://soils.ifas.ufl.edu/people/faculty/julie-l-meyer/ ) at the University of Florida Genetics Institute and in collaboration with Dr. Andrew Altieri in the Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure and Environment and Dr. Rachel Collin, Director of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, Bocas del Toro Research Station.

Minimum Requirements:

The position requires a PhD in Microbiology, Marine Science, Oceanography, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field. Additional requirements for this position include a demonstrated record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals and experience with bioinformatics tools (command line, github, Rstudio) for the analysis of microbial metagenomes or metatranscriptomes.
