Tarleton State University, Department of Social Work and Communication Disorders is seeking an Associate/Full Professor & Department Head.

Primarily responsible for the teaching/learning process and will also participate in the necessary operations of the institution. Position may be housed in Stephenville, Fort Worth, or Waco. Will be traveling to all campus locations.

Administrative:

  • providing leadership and support for faculty and staff
  • creating a positive environment for teaching, research, and service
  • recruiting, hiring, and training/evaluating faculty and staff within the academic unit.
  • managing budget
  • facilitating curriculum
  • negotiation affiliation agreements with health care agencies and health care professionals

Teaching:

  • develop, implement and review effective teaching/learning processes
  • incorporating appropriate methodology, technology and other tools
  • remain current in discipline

Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity:

  • direct efforts towards developing expertise in assigned teaching area
  • articulate the resources necessary from the department to accomplish short- and long-term goals
  • demonstrate a record of ongoing scholarship resulting in identified results or products in the areas of teaching, traditional research/grant writing or practice

Education and Experience:

  • earned doctorate in social work from a regionally accredited institution
  • final rank of appointment to Associate/Full Professor will be based on candidates teaching and research credentials
  • must possess a scholarly record of achievements in teaching and research
  • demonstrated excellence in leadership, administration, and resource development
  • experience with curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation

REQUIRED: Ph.D. or DSW in Social Work or related degree. Currently licensed Social Worker in the State of Texas or eligible for and receive Texas Social Work Licensure within 6 months of starting the position.

Other Requirements:

  • scholarly record of achievements in teaching and research
  • preferred service as a Faculty Fellow in Research Teaching or Service
  • preferred applicant served as Social Work Program Director, Clinical Coordinator or Title IV Coordinator preferred record of application for external funding

Our social work program offers a bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW), priming students to become generalist practitioners, and a Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW), preparing advanced practitioners and community agency leaders to become licensed social workers.

In our social work programs, we prepare effective generalist social work practitioners committed to strengthening marginalized and oppressed populations. Our Communication Disorders program prepares you to enter into various professions in both Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology with a B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders. The coursework addresses both the clinical and medical side of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, developing an understanding of communication disorders and the techniques and tools available to evaluate and treat our clients, from birth to older adults, who need our help.
