Program Manager, Honors Student Recruitment & Success

About the Opportunity

The University Honors Program is comprised of approximately 3,300 academically gifted students. The Coordinator of Honors Student Recruitment & Success is responsible for coordinating enrollment management and student success initiatives with the goal of building a diverse and talented student body that is supported, retained, and achieves Honors Distinction upon graduation. The Coordinator also plays an integral role in the University Honors Programs and co-coordinates initiatives such as Orientation, Welcome Week activities, graduation recognition programming, and other initiatives as needed. The Coordinator also provides limited developmental advising to Honors students on issues such as Honors course selection, academic support, and co-curricular opportunities. Additionally, the Coordinator supports student learning by either teaching one section of the Honors Discovery introductory course or by serving as a Coordinator for one Honors Living Learning Community. There are some weekend and evening hours required in this position to support programming.

Responsibilities:

a. Honors Enrollment Management
- Coordinate enrollment management initiatives, including the
recruitment of first-time Northeastern Honors students, transfer
students, and internal admission processes with the goal of a
diverse and high talent student body
- Co-coordinate recruitment and yield events
- Respond to inquiries from prospective students and parents
- Select, train, and supervise upperclass Honors students serving as
Honors Ambassadors to assist with recruitment efforts

b. Honors Student Success
- Contribute to the design, execution, and assessment of initiatives to
promote the strong retention and graduation of Honors students so
they successfully earn Honors Distinction
- Make data-informed recommendations for identifying Honors
students who might most benefit from strategic approaches to
promote the successful completion of Honors requirements, and
provide outreach to these students
- Maintain accurate records of degree completion, Honors Distinction,
Honors in the Discipline, internal admits, Honors attributes, etc., in
collaboration with the Registrar's office
- Co-coordinate Honors' Summer Orientation programming
- Co-coordinate Honors Welcome Week programming
- Co-coordinate December Graduate Reception and Honors Cording

- Ceremony, including student and faculty award program

c. Honors Advising
- Provide limited developmental advising and guidance to Honors
students, with special attention to coordinating dedicated advising
for third-year students
- Respond to inquiries from Honors students and college advisors

d. First-Year Programming
- Provide educational experiences to first-year Honors students by
either instructing 1 section of the Honors Discovery course or by
serving as the Coordinator of 1 Honors Living Learning Community

e. Additional Duties
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of Honors programming, e.g., community-building and leadership development programming.

Qualifications:

Masters Degree in higher education or related field required and 2 years previous work experience in higher education required. Experience in college student recruitment, enrollment management, or advising is highly desirable. Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required. Computer skills, experience working with database software / website maintenance desirable. Ability to prioritize tasks and work collaboratively. Experience working directly with students and providing excellent student programming opportunities highly desired. The Coordinator should demonstrate a student-centered approach to helping students define and achieve their goals.
