The Yale University School of Medicine invites applications for two Postdoctoral Research Associates to conduct research from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023 on the relationship of the medical school and slavery. 

            The Postdoctoral Associates will explore topics including financial ties between the medical school and the slave trade, connections of scientific racism to the curriculum, and the impact of slavery on the relationship between the medical school and the community.  The Postdoctoral Associates will also help in sharing the project’s findings.

The primary affiliation will be in the Section of the History of Medicine in the School of Medicine, and postdocs will be invited to join fully in the activities of Yale’s Program in the History of Science and Medicine.

            Applicants must hold a PhD in History of Medicine and Science, History, African American Studies, or a related field or expect to receive such a degree by July 1, 2022.  Applications should be addressed to Prof. John Harley Warner and submitted electronically at this link via Interfolio  Applications should include a cover letter, CV, letters from 3 references, and a writing sample.
