Job Description



PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Specialist III, CE Advising is responsible for ensuring that LSC students are served efficiently, with all, including advising and registration. Authorizes and accepts DOT physicals and drug testing for enrollment. Monitors, enrolls, and/or cancels classes and assists students with a variety of different sources of financial aid.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Advises students on proper course selection and requirements, explaining the degree/program types and options that LSC offers, as well as disseminating information to students about all the services that are available on campus.
  2. Answers phone calls, emails, and face-to-face student interactions
  3. Performs accurate data entry including adding/dropping new students in system and correctly registering their classes; runs weekly reports on classes to ensure accuracy
  4. Creates flyers, job aides, maps, room notices, etc. to properly inform and best assist students
  5. Maintains and inputs class information on the American Payroll Association website for Pay Train Fundamentals and Pay Train Mastery
  6. Works with recruiters and carriers for employment assistance for LSC students
  7. Assists in training incoming front desk employees with registration, advising, and customer service
  8. Schedules CDL orientation sessions
  9. Assists with execution of commencement logistics and graduation ceremony and coordination all pre-graduation activities and events
  10. Assists with the preparation of events including catalogs/flyers, handout goodies, stands, etc., and attends events to inform the community of LSC programs
  11. Functions as first response access point for all students; receives inbound calls from faculty, staff, community members, and students with Admissions issues, updating student accounts and registration processes
  12. Answers all inbound calls and trouble-shoots Student Center to resolve student inquiries regarding the admissions process, advising info, registration requirements, and business office functions, as well as general inquiries
  13. Collaborates with college staff and administrators to address and provide a wide variety of assistance to students to promote recruitment, admissions, and enrollment as the college
  14. Contacts prospective students during peak registration and before each enrollment period starts to provide assistance with the enrollment process through phone calls or emails; ensures that the admission process follows the TEA guidelines
  15. Assists in the ordering, receiving, stocking and distribution of office supplies; picks-up, receives, sorts and distributes incoming mail and shipments
  16. Promotes communication, program awareness, and opportunities that the college provides
  17. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.



WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
  • Position may be required to work schedules outside of core business hours
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma and at least 3 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Salary

Hiring salary range is $32,250-$37,088

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer. The information outlined below will provide the Office of Human Resources everything needed to determine an accurate starting salary.
