Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Part-Time Human Resources Coordinator I will coordinate and provide human resources services for employees and hiring managers of complex, centralized, system-wide locations. Provide advice/counsel on routine human resources issues and communicate process decisions & best practices. The Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the day-to-day operations in the College Human Resources Department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinate training/development for employees and maintain campus HR training programs
- Identify and frame human resources concerns, solve problems, and create action plans in collaboration with appropriate resources; Serve as back-up to HR Director when needed for matters authorized to handle
- Serve as a partner for hiring managers and employees by providing information and training on human resources policies and practices; Research problems and recommend solutions
- Act as the primary HR contact for benefits questions and processes. Provide on-boarding and benefits orientation sessions to new employees, assist with annual benefit open enrollment, benefit changes and basic retirement planning
- Interpret policies and procedures and assist employees with issues involving routine problems. Provide advice and counsel on first-line employee relations issues; escalate complex issues to appropriate resources. Assist employees with human resources policies and practices. If needed, escalate to HRD
- Act as liaison between employees and Benefits, Payroll, Compensation departments, and State Agencies (ERS/ TRS)
- Coordinate with Recruiting, Hiring Managers, and Search Committees throughout the recruitment process to ensure fair hiring practices are being followed; Represent HR at campus and college events as needed
- Prepare, process, and maintain employment records throughout the employee life-cycle using human resources management system
- Coordinate performance evaluation process, benefits open enrollment process, contract renewal and distribution process, and regalia ordering process by ensuring timely communication and instruction to hiring managers and employees
- Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
- Associate’s degree and at least 1 year of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor’s Degree
- aPHR certification or higher, or industry recognized equivalents
- Experience using PeopleSoft
- Experience working in Human Resources in higher education
Hourly Pay Rate is $15.15
