Overview

The Office of the Dean of the Graduate School seeks an Assistant Dean for Graduate Student Professional Development to join GradFUTURES®, a campus-wide professional development initiative to empower graduate students with the professional competencies and connections they need to chart their future with clarity and confidence. Professional development is an integral part of graduate education at Princeton. Our holistic and integrative model focuses on the systematic learning and acquisition of skills and competencies that will support graduate students’ scholarly and research goals while preparing them for professional success in diverse roles within the academic, public, and private sectors. We believe comprehensive professional development mutually reinforces doctoral training, ensures equitable access to pathways within and beyond the academy -- and widens the aperture of opportunity for all Ph.D. and master’s students. We seek a dynamic, collaborative, and entrepreneurially-minded professional committed to graduate student success in an ever-evolving, diverse, inclusive, and global professional landscape.

Now in its third year, GradFUTURES builds and maintains strategic partnerships both on and off-campus to connect graduate students with a diverse array of professional development programs, resources, mentors, and funded experiential opportunities. This position will interface regularly with colleagues at the Graduate School, within all the academic departments and campus partner offices, as well as with graduate students, graduate alumni, and industry partners. With more than 120 professional development programs per year, several interdisciplinary learning cohorts, dozens of high-profile alumni speakers, and an annual GradFUTURES Forum attracting 3,600+ participants, this role involves extensive program planning, creativity, and organizational abilities.

Reporting to the Associate Dean and Director of Graduate Student Professional Development, the Assistant Dean will assist in developing a comprehensive and integrated suite of professional development offerings for graduate students while ensuring that these are highly visible and accessible to all graduate students. This will involve gathering and analyzing appropriate metrics to assess the impact and long-term outcomes of our programs and contributing to various strategic communications efforts intended to convey this information to internal and external stakeholders.

This is a full-time position, with a preferred start date early-mid February. Review of applications will begin immediately. For fullest consideration, candidates should apply as soon as possible.

About working at the Graduate School: This professional will join an office that offers a challenging and supportive work environment. Engaged and dedicated staff members within the office collaborate to improve the educational experience of all graduate students at Princeton. The work itself is extraordinarily rewarding: it is multi-faceted, always evolving, and meaningful.
