Brief Summary of Work for this Position

The Congdon School of Supply Chain, Business Analytics and Information Systems at the University of North Carolina Wilmington is seeking a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor starting in August 2022.
Upon initial appointment the successful candidate is expected to teach introductory and advanced courses in Cybersecurity, maintain an active research program, and contribute to departmental service. The ideal candidate would be able to teach hands-on classes primarily in at least two of the following areas: cybersecurity program management, cybersecurity strategy, supply chain cybersecurity, cloud security, SOC Operations, threat hunting, cybersecurity policy. Secondary teaching areas are operating systems security, network security, applied cybersecurity, forensics, wireless security, web application security, mobile security, SCADA /IoT, offensive cyber operations, active cyber defense, incident response, cyber threat intelligence, cyber law, cyber politics, cyber fraud, security analytics, cryptography, ethical hacking, pentesting, CISA, CISSP .
A focused research agenda with an established record of publication or strong potential for publication is expected.

The ideal candidate will exhibit a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and continuing scholarly activity and to building positive relationships with colleagues and students.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

For the ranks of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor:
The successful candidate should have a PH.D. degree in Information Systems, cybersecurity or a related area from a Nationally Accredited University (anticipated completion of the terminal degree no later than July 2022 for a Fall 2022 start is acceptable) and demonstrate the ability to excel in teaching while maintaining a program of research/scholarly activity that involves students.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The Congdon School of Supply Chain, Business Analytics and Information Systems supports the Bachelor of Science with concentrations in Business Analytics, Information Systems, and Supply Chain Management and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. At the graduate level, the School supports the Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Computer Science and Information Systems, and Master of Science in Business Analytics.
The National Security Agency ( NSA ) and Department of Homeland Security ( DHS ) designated UNCW 2018 as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education ( CAE - CDE ). The cybersecurity program at UNCW is robust and flourishing, with five current offerings across the university: IT Major with Cybersecurity Concentration, CS Major with Security Concentration, Cybersecurity Minor (open to all majors), MBA with Cybersecurity Specialization, and Cybersecurity Major (starting fall 2022 – first cybersecurity undergraduate major offered in the UNC system). Cybersecurity and IT majors are hybrid programs offered by CS and IS faculty.
