Instructional Technologist



Job Summary:

Coppin State University’s Innovation, Development, Education, and Innovation ( IDEA ) Team of the Information Technology Division is seeking a tech-passionate, self-starting, innovative individual to fill the role of Instructional Technologist. This person will be both a pedagogical and technical resource for campus-wide instructional technology tools, including: Blackboard Learn; Panopto; PlayPosit; TurnItIn; Respondus; and a variety of other tools. As such, this person will be critical in advancing the adoption, integration, and delivery of instructional technologies, and ensuring that the university is effectively levering instructional technologies to provide a positive, high-impact learning experience for students. This will be accomplished by:

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Developing, conducting, and evaluating training workshops (online, in-person, and hybrid) to support the effective use of new and existing instructional technologies;
  • Developing and maintaining training materials (written, video, audio, etc.);
  • Consulting with faculty in identifying opportunities for using technology for their respective teaching, learning, and research agendas;
  • Evaluating the use and impact of existing instructional technologies;
  • Troubleshooting and resolving instructional technology issues for faculty;
  • Researching and evaluating new technologies, initiatives, and trends to enhance teaching and learning and the student experience;
  • Promoting instructional technology to the wider university community;
  • Remaining current knowledge of new instructional technology tools, trends, and features;
  • Coordinating, developing, or leading special projects/tasks/duties and provide assistance, as assigned; and
  • Completing other duties, as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree
Experience:
  • Three (3) years of directly related experience (Advanced Degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field may be substituted for years of experience)
  • Experience working with Blackboard Learn Ultra preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to learn and teach new software applications; and
  • Strong analytical skills.
