PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
Assistant/Associate Professor of Counseling Psychology - 9 months, tenure track position. The candidate will possess Ph.D. in counseling psychology from an accredited program, be professionally licensed to practice, and provide supervision to master's level trainees. Other requirements include a record of research, scholarly and/or creative activity, and a demonstrated potential for effective teaching using a variety of methodologies including face-to-face, hybrid, and online instruction.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Teaching Counseling Psychology Graduate Program courses as defined by the Faculty Handbook.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Duties include but are not limited to: teaching a 3/3 course load in graduate counseling psychology, supervising practicum students in placements, submitting learning assessment reports for accreditation, and serving on the graduate program committee.
OTHER DUTIES:
- The candidate will actively participate in the unit’s application for professional program accreditation within the next two years. Potential opportunity to assist in the Campus Emotional and Wellness Center.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from an accredited institution, and commitment to teaching in a Historical Black College and University (HBCU) preferred. An established record of research, publication, and teaching, the ability to offer students clinical/research experiences, experience with teaching in face-to-face, hybrid, and online modalities, and grant writing experience. Program level accreditation experience and Quality Matters certification preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in the university setting.
- Strong commitment to teaching at the graduate student level.
- This faculty position will have practicum supervisory responsibility for graduate-level counseling psychology students.
- Work involves an office setting.
