Position Details:
Business Essentials in Undergraduate Studies in the School of Business at Virginia Commonwealth University is recruiting a pool of applicants to develop and teach asynchronous online for Business and BUSN 212. to teach for the Fall and Spring semesters in adjunct teaching positions. Differential Calculus and Optimization for Business. Course development of BUSN 171 is set to begin at the end of May 2022 with the course launching in Fall 2022.
All courses will be deployed online and asynchronously, with no required in-person component or specified meeting day/time. Instructors will be expected to hold regular, online office hours.
Course design will be done in collaboration with instructional designers and a media team in VCU Online to support the development of high-quality content. From assistance in organizing learning goals to building the course on Canvas, the team at VCU Online works with instructors every step of the way. Course design can be conducted virtually, except for filming instructional videos on campus with the media team. Candidates who are able to film professional quality instructional videos off-campus, to be edited by VCU Online, will be considered. Resources are not available to provide professional filming equipment off-campus.
Compensation for the development of the Online Course is $3,625.
Upon completion of the course development, VCU Online provides instructors with an additional stipend of $2,000 in professional development funding. The salary range for teaching the course(s) during the fall semester is in addition to the funding listed above. The teaching salary range is determined by the number of students enrolled and the number of courses taught.
As an Adjunct Instructor in the Business Essentials Unit in the School of Business, you will help support the School of Business strategic plan that focuses on creativity in the curriculum.
Note that we are unable to hire applicants who do not apply on the VCU website. Applicant credentials will remain active until the following July 1. Candidates who wish to be considered beyond that time must reapply to a new posting.
Should funding for such adjunct teaching positions become available, Undergraduate Studies will contact persons in the pool whose credentials match the teaching needs.
This pool will be accessed only when an opening arises. Your credentials will remain open (January 25, 2022 - June 30, 2022). After June 30, 2022, if you are still interested in adjunct teaching, you must reapply to this adjunct pool. Note that we are unable to hire applicants who are not already in the pool.

Master’s degree in business, mathematics, or closely related discipline.
Teaching experience in higher education or high school
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Demonstrated experience or interest in teaching and collaborating with diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Business, Mathematics or a closely related discipline at the time the appointment begins. ABD candidates will be considered.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching higher education mathematics courses.
Experience developing and deploying successful online mathematics courses.
