Job Description:

The College of Journalism and Communications is seeking a part-time, temporary (OPS) Administrative Assistant for Graduate Studies and Research Division (GSRD).

This position will assist with calendar management and meeting scheduling for the Associate Dean and GSRD. Manage travel arrangements for Associate Dean. Manage email listservs. Attend all meetings of CJC Research Committee and produce and distribute agendas, minutes and related materials. Assist with planning and coordination of GSRD special events.

The Administrative Assistant will administer small programs, grants and awards for GSRD. Announce and receive applications and distribute proposals to members of review committees for Graduate Student Travel Awards, Dean’s Seed Money Awards, Doctoral Dissertation Awards, and more.

This position is responsible for tasks such as: calendar management, sending deadline reminders, receiving and processing receipts and processing expense reports for prompt and appropriate payment or reimbursement, receiving and distributing progress reports, final reports, and departmental reports.

The Administrative Assistant will work with the SONA account (online scheduling software used by researchers to recruit participants and manage studies with student participants). Supervise student assistant(s) with SONA, HSPs and other administrative tasks. Manage CJC aspects of Exchange Visitor program; process DS-2019 applications for our International Research Scholars.

Expected Salary:

$15 - $20 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 1-5 years of experience
