Job Description

The UMKC Dental School is seeking an experienced Executive Assistant to provide executive assistance for the Dean’s Office. Successful applicants will be positive, student-focused professionals with excellent communication skills, who are known for their interpersonal skills and experience, and respect for working with highly confidential information. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Independent judgment and decision-making plus the ability to know when to ask questions for verification.
  • Confidentiality. Many of the matters of the office deal with issues requiring, by law, student, faculty and staff confidential matters. Discretion, empathy and tact are required.
  • Organizational skills to be able to accurately multi-task the many duties of the position.
  • Management of the dean’s office scheduling.
  • Recording minutes of meetings including faculty council, faculty meetings and other committees as requested by the dean.
  • Working collaboratively with School of Dentistry staff to facilitate efficient, accurate operation of the offices.
  • Arranging/assisting with logistics for School events such as faculty/staff recognition, retirement celebrations, and others as directed.
  • Excellent communication skills in developing official communication on behalf of the Dean’s Office for internal and external audiences.
  • Accuracy and quality-minded work ethic in support of the many and varied tasks required of the Dean’s Office.
  • Management of official documents including the Dean’s Office electronic filing systems.
  • Coordinates and facilitates with searches for faculty and senior administrative staff.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 or more years administrative experience supporting an executive
  • Experience in higher education
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook
Full Time/Part Time

Full Time, benefit-eligible, staff position.

Salary

$16.92 - $21.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and education
