Responsibilities
As of member of the Alumni Engagement and Events (AEE) team, the role of Director of Digital Media is to advance the strategic goals, reach, and priorities of the Office of Strategic Partnerships and Advancement (SPA) through data-informed digital engagement. Reporting to the AVP of Alumni Engagement and Events, this role is responsible for developing, improving, and implementing content across digital platforms, including but not limited to the Saint Mary's College Advancement website, all social media channels, email marketing, and other digital marketing/advertising initiatives to drive constituent engagement and philanthropy. In collaboration with Annual Giving and Communications, and campus partners in the Office of College Communications - implement short and long-term, cross channel communications plans for alumni, donors, parents, and friends of Saint Mary's College.

1. Social Media Strategy: Create, manage, implement, and direct all social media content across Facebook, Instagram, Linked In, YouTube, and Twitter for the Office of Alumni Engagement and Events. Develop and maintain a social media strategy including posting cadence, approval process, social guidelines, and tracking process. Monitor, analyze, and
report on social media performance, aligning organic efforts with paid efforts and overall business/strategic goals. Lead social media listening and community management efforts, tracking audience sentiment and handling audience engagement.

2. Content Creation: Production, discovery, and adaptation of content for strategic marketing and engagement campaigns. Content should includeboth static and dynamic media, alumni and donor profiles, including live streaming and video production. Collaborations with SPA and campus partners, as well as event coverage will be required.

3. Best Practices and Effectiveness: Monitor trends in marketing and communications and on social platforms. Develop and manage benchmarking systems to measure the effectiveness of communications and marketing initiatives, including email outreach, print publications, website activity, and calendaring.

4. Collaboration: Support and collaborate with teams across SPA, AEE, and College Communications on marketing campaigns for various events and programs and manage digital communications calendar. Manage 1-3 student interns for the purpose of consistent content creation and event coverage.

5. Anthology/Website Support: Develop training materials to provide strategic instruction to various internal and external constituents on utilizing digital communications. Support SPA staff with creating and updating websites, event forms, data forms, member updates, and emails. Work closely with members of AEE and Annual Giving and Communications (AGC). Review and proof marketing emails before deployment.

6. Calendar: Develop a centralized calendar for SPA digital communications efforts to enhance efficiencies, effectiveness, and coordination. Maintain content calendars for all social media channels including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter.

7. Other Duties as Assigned Hire and supervise student assistants and function as a member of the Alumni Engagement and Events team for events coverage and planning.

Experience and Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: REQUIRED: BA/BS. PREFERRED: MA

Experience: (years required and applicable field of experience): Bachelor's degree; 5-7 years experience in alumni relations, public relations, marketing, communication, and/or similar activities; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Exceptional writing, administrative, and interpersonal skills required.

Skills/Abilities: (e.g. computer skills, written & verbal skills, trades, laws, procedures, technical) Measurable success with leveraging digital marketing initiatives to grow audiences and engagement; High proficiency with social media channels and management platforms (e.g. Sprout Social, Hoot Suite), mobile photography and videon documentation, email automation and CRM software (e.g. Anthology/iModules, Every Action), analytics platforms
(e.g. Google Analytics, Google Data Studio), and Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) required. Basic designnand photo/video editing software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Expertise in a wide range of social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook, as well as social media analytics tools
  • Strong news judgment and ability to originate social media content ideas and tailor them to each platform
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with various stakeholders
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Proactive self-starter who can work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to build relationships across the school and university, and work with a diverse group of people.

    Other Requirements: (e.g. travel, weekend/evening work) Frequent weekend and evening work required to be present at Advancement events for timely posting of digital content.
