Benz Professorship: Associate or Full Professor in Social Work

Position Description: Bowling Green State University’s (BGSU) Social Work Program is seeking applicants for a tenure-track Social Work faculty at the Associate or Full Professor level for the Benz endowed professorship. This endowed professorship was created in 2017 by Dr. Laurence “Larry” ’84 and Patricia “Patty” Benz to reside in the College of Health and Human Services. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of exceptional teaching and noted research in their discipline. An interest in assuming administrative responsibilities and/or pursuing external funding is preferred.

Qualifications: Candidates are required to hold an MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited school and a Ph.D. in social work or closely related field. We encourage prospective applicants whose research and teaching demonstrate a commitment to social justice. Prospective applicants must be at the Associate or Full Professor level and must demonstrate a promising program of research leading to outstanding scholarship.

Primary Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include teaching at the graduate and undergraduate level across the curriculum, establishing a high-quality research and publication record, seeking external funding, advising students, participating in curriculum design, and providing professional service through community engagement and professional societies.

Salary: Competitive and commensurate with peer institution levels for rank and position and in keeping with candidate’s experience and credentials.

Expected start date: August 2022
