Assistant Professor - Game Development and AR/VR Technology
The School of Arts, Technology, and Emerging Communication (ATEC) at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) invites applications for a tenure-system faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. ATEC at UT Dallas is a recognized multidisciplinary academic research school with leading-edge programs. Princeton Review ranked ATEC Game Design in its list of top 25 Game Design Graduate Programs in 2021. We are seeking a colleague with a record of significant accomplishment in the study and practice of game design and development to join a dynamic department designing new experiences and transforming the way we interact with technology. The preferred applicant will have extensive experience in game design on a technical level, and can use modern tools and practices for implementing designs. Applicants must demonstrate familiarity with game engines and have sufficient technical knowledge for implementing designs. Knowledge of game design and level design using Unreal and Unity game engines and AR/VR experience is required. Essential duties include teaching four courses annually related to the areas of game design and level design (undergraduate and/or graduate levels); university service; scholarly research and/or creative practice; enhancement and maintenance of existing game design courses to ensure quality consistent with current industry practices; development of expanded MFA course offerings; supervision of capstones and independent studies in the area of game design.
