ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES: The Arts & Communication Department, Division of Liberal Arts, is seeking a full-time tenure track instructor of Communication to start in the fall 2022 semester. Applicants should have experience as an instructor of speech or comparable general education communication courses, understanding and experience using digital media in the classroom, and an academic area of specialization that compliments the department. The ideal candidate should be capable of re-imagining speech courses to better incorporate the digital technologies and presentation needs of contemporary communication settings. This includes a commitment to maintaining or expanding the use of OER materials as well as incorporating elements of digital technology and culture in the speech curriculum. Candidates with expertise in areas including communication education, public address, digital culture, public relations, strategic communication, or interpersonal communication will be given preference. The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include coordinating and teaching introductory speech courses, working collaboratively with communication faculty to continually develop academic programs, and teaching other courses in their area(s) of expertise. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in teaching and a commitment to the comprehensive community college mission. In addition to teaching responsibilities, requirements for this position include: working closely with adjunct faculty, participation in curriculum planning, program assessment and development, student advisement, and service on college-wide committees. A minimum of a Master’s degree in communication and college-level teaching experience is required. A Ph.D. in communication, community college teaching experience, and online teaching experience is preferred.
