Job Summary:

Old Dominion University is seeking candidates for the (full-time, 12 month) Faculty Diversity and Retention Coordinator. The Faculty Diversity and Retention Coordinator will assist the Director of Faculty Diversity and Retention with the planning, development, coordination, management, and assessment of various professional development activities and programs related to the recruitment and retainment of faculty. This position will be expected to: Research, develop, facilitate, and assess programs to assist with the recruiting of faculty, retention of faculty, and the promotion of inclusive excellence. Manage projects from inception to completion with advanced assessment of such projects. Identify and advocate for research-based based practices for recruitment and retention; determine the strategies, services and support necessary for the recruitment and retention of faculty. Create and lead workshops for faculty on a wide variety of topics related to diversity, equity and inclusion. Work collaboratively with various divisions within the university to promote inclusive excellence. Provide effective communication and marketing strategies for the Office of Faculty Diversity and Retention and Collaborate on grants, op-ed, journal articles, research projects, annual reports, presentations, and newsletters.

  Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in higher education, education, sociology, psychology, business, or human resources. Considerable experience in diversity, equity and inclusion. Considerable experience in program development, teaching and project management. Considerable experience in faculty recruitment and retention. Considerable experience in the design, implementation, delivery and assessment of program development initiatives and diversity programs. Basic/working experience working with faculty and in a university environment. Considerable knowledge of higher education challenges to diversifying. Considerable knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion theories and strategies in application to higher education environments. Basic knowledge of mentoring. Expertise in the development of programs and workshops in higher education. Expertise in project management, data collection and analysis and curation. Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and publishing); attention to detail. Excellent research and problem-solving skills. Effective networking skills. Familiarity with tools for information access, collaboration, and instruction using current technologies. Proficient skill in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SWAY, Access, Outlook, and PhotoShop along with Google Drive, and ePortfolio) or other similar applications.

 Preferred Qualifications:

Doctorate degree in education, communication, psychology, sociology, higher education leadership or related field. Extensive knowledge of higher-education learning environments. Extensive experience in diversity, equity and inclusion. Extensive experience in recruitment and retention of faculty.
