Position Information

Position Title Postdoctoral Fellowship In Student Athlete Mental Health Overview
The position is designed to provide experience in a supportive, multidisciplinary college counseling center with the majority of the focus being student-athlete mental health. The successful candidate will provide individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, clinical assessment, and consultation for the student-athlete population in addition to a limited amount of short-term clinical consultation and crisis services to the general undergraduate community. The post-doctoral fellow will also provide psycho-educational outreach programs, consultation to staff and faculty, and will participate in the training of social work interns and psychology practicum trainees. Essential Duties:
Provide culturally appropriate counseling and crisis intervention services to student athletes coping with mental health and developmental challenges from an array of diverse populations. Work with on and off-campus resources to coordinate support to students. Assist in the didactic seminar program development for our trainees. Participate in prevention and outreach programming to the general College community. Participate in emergency crisis coverage. Marginal Duties:
The fellow will receive two hours of supervision weekly by licensed staff psychologists on-site and will participate in weekly case conference/staff meetings. Opportunities will be made available to engage with offices/groups on campus based on the candidate’s interest. Education and Experience Required
Completed doctoral degree (Counseling or Clinical Psychology) from an APA -accredited
program by August 1, 2022. Strong interest in student-athlete mental health/specialization, skills in assessment, psychotherapy, and crisis intervention. Interest in offering clinical and outreach services to students from diverse/multicultural backgrounds.
Experience in a college counseling setting is preferred. Strong understanding of college student development. Interest in working with student-athletes. Experience with electronic record keeping. Interest working with one or more of the following: individuals with substance use/abuse issues, eating disorders, innovative/online intervention approaches, outreach, prevention, and psycho-educational initiatives.
