    Department Summary
    The Division of Global Engagement (DGE) works to make the University of Oregon a more global university. In 21st century higher education, international engagement is not an optional extra: as noted in UO's Academic Plan, it is a core mission, essential to a thriving, socially salient, intellectually robust, academic community. It is part of the normal functioning of every school, college, department, and center. DGE works to support and integrate the wide range of international engagements, global-scale projects, and transnational partnerships launched and maintained in our many academic units. Units within DGE consist of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), Global Education Oregon (GEO), Global Studies Institute (GSI), and Mills International Center.

    GEO (Global Education Oregon) is the UO study abroad office and a provider of international programs open to partner universities. At Global Education Oregon we create pathways to international, experiential learning for students, faculty, and university partners. Founded on the belief that international engagement is integral to developing global citizens, we:
    ~Prepare students for a 21st century workforce, creating exceptional academic and professional development opportunities abroad;
    ~Connect faculty to cross-cultural perspectives that enhance their teaching and research; and
    ~Provide institutional partners with a personalized, progressive approach to international programming and collaboration.
    Global Education Oregon (GEO) is a proud partner of Generation Study Abroad.
    Position Summary
    This position works closely with the Division of Global Engagement (DGE) leadership in the development, execution and management of new and existing cross-unit, revenue-generating programs in furtherance of UO's global engagement mission.

    The GEO Assistant Director for Global Programs reports to the Assistant Vice Provost of Operations and Innovation and will be responsible for managing and closely coordinating the efforts of other members of DGE to design, implement, and administer global engagement programs that provide study abroad and international internship opportunities for UO and GEO-Partner Network students. The Assistant Director will work to enhance UO research excellence; support faculty global engagements; bring students into new forms of international curriculum, service, and experiential learning outside traditional study abroad pathways; and enhance the global diversity and cross-cultural vibrancy of the UO campus and community. This all involves the management, administration, and coordination of ongoing DGE programming and the generation of new revenue from interdisciplinary global engagement programming, grants, gifts, contracts, fee-based trainings, and other sources that support UO's global engagement.

    This position directly supervises members of DGE's Global Engagement Program Coordination (GEPC) team, manages its own distinct portfolio of global engagement programs, and provides leadership and management over an assigned area of DGE operations.

    This position also provides research, advice, and support to DGE leaders, as needed.
