Job Description Summary:

As a part of a major digital transformation, Austin Community College District (ACC) is undertaking several initiatives aimed at modernizing and improving the college’s processes and technology. These efforts include implementation of a new ERP, building new applications and a new data hub for integrations between applications. To endure the success of the transformation, we are looking to bolster our quality assurance practices.

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst with experience in formal QA testing. The successful candidate will have experience using robust testing tools, test automation experience and will have had experience testing custom-built applications running on both on-premise environments as well as hosted environments. The ideal candidate will also have experience with automated script testing and leading test teams in developing traceable test cases and test scripts. Experience with both client-server and web-native application testing is a must and experience testing configuration of cloud-based solutions is also desired. Strong leadership experience and an ability to create processes that others adhere to is required.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Ensures ACC's products meet internal standards and industry best practices.
  • Builds effective test cases, scripts and scenarios.
  • Mentors junior Quality Assurance Analysts.
  • Executes tests using a combination of manual and automated testing procedures.
  • Completes hands-on testing in various platforms such as custom web applications, Salesforce applications and ERP processes within Workday.
  • Tests both new processes and legacy processes as business functions move from the legacy ERP to Workday.
  • Reports on the status of various product features based on test results.
  • Operates within new and existing processes to complete test cycles.
  • Participates in team meetings.
  • Assists with developing policies and/or procedures as needed.
  • Provides support to users having difficulties with applications.
  • Keeps current with the latest technology.
Knowledge

Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge of general and sound knowledge the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Knowledge of specific expert-level knowledge of the Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC).
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of the various types of testing.
  • Knowledge of best practices in software quality assurance.
  • Conducting tests on computer software to make sure the software performs as intended and meet usability standards.
Skills
Must possess required skills and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Ability to identify weaknesses in the software code or functionality.
  • Maintaining an established work schedule and providing on-call assistance including some nights and weekends.
  • Troubleshooting techniques used to resolve application-related problems.
  • Ability to prioritize workload effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and work with a high level of independence.
  • Ensuring availability, dependability, and reliability of assigned applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
  • Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills including tact and diplomacy.
  • Effectively using organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
Technology Skills
  • Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
  • Use query and control languages, application administrations, and providing technical support to end-users.
Required Work Experience
  • Five years related work experience.
Preferred Work Experience
  • Five or more years working as a Quality Assurance Analyst or similar role.
  • Seven or more years working within the field of software quality assurance, software development or related area of IT.
  • Experience building test scripts using TestComplete (SmartBear) automation tool.
Required Education
  • Associate degree.
Preferred Education
  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science or related field, or equivalent related IT experience .
Special Requirements

Licenses/Certifications; Other
  • Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation for local Austin area travel.
  • ITIL Certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed in a standard office or similar environment.
  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.

Salary Range

$55,353 - $79,075
