Major/Essential Functions
Prepares, maintains, analyzes and presents reports of financial performance and other information to include presentation to various audiences and committees. Communicates and interacts with internal and external contacts to accomplish assigned projects. Participates in review of proposals for program planning, budgeting, and implementation (i.e, new faculty recruitment, program development, budget changes). Manages departmental funds and operating budgets to include monitoring and approving receipt and procurement activities--manages approximately 40 funds with balances exceeding several million dollars for multiple funding sources. Participates in the development and complete review of annual operating budgets for the Amarillo School of Medicine (SOM) to include reporting, presentation, and budget hearings. Defines, administers, and monitors requests requiring a response to various levels of administration including senior administration. Performs audits of cash handling processes internally. Prepares and participates in application and reporting requirements for government funded programs with extreme attention to detailed required. Attends meetings and serves as source of information for various topics of discussion. Assists Assistant Dean of Finance & Administration and Regional Dean with various financial related queries and requests.

Preferred Qualifications
Must have extensive experience with Microsoft Excel including analytic tools like pivot tables. Strong skills with other Microsoft Office products a necessity. Ability to quickly acquire knowledge in and adapt to various computer programs and querying tools. Strong understanding of budget and finance concepts and experience with financial report creation and presentation.
Ability to communicate professionally, both orally and written. Ability to interact professionally with leadership and those in senior leadership positions by being prepared and able to articulate in clear terms financial concepts and information.
Outstanding organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in parallel.
Experience with accounting for grants and State funding sources. Prefer experience with academic medical center accounting and finances such as the TTUHSC system.
