As a part of Student Engagement and Wellness at Metropolitan State University of Denver, the Student Care Center is committed providing holistic support to students. The scope of the Student Care Center includes the facilitation of non-clinical case management on behalf of the CARE Team (behavioral intervention team), generalized support and referrals for students in crisis, oversight of the Roadrunner Food Pantry, managing the Student Emergency Retention Funds, assisting with public benefits and oversight of the Epic Scholars and HOPES Program.

This position will assist the Student Care Center with SNAP outreach, education and applications. This position will also be the primary person to do SNAP applications with MSU Denver students in the Student Care Center. This position will provide case management services related to food insecurity and basic needs in order to discuss SNAP benefits with students. In addition, this person will work to address food insecurity across campus.

This position reports to the Associate Director of Basic Needs & Public Benefits Initiatives and supports the recommendations of the CARE Team. This position collaborates with other professional staff in the Student Care Center and the Dean of Students Office daily to provide timely case management for food insecurity and basic needs.

IND208 Duties/Responsibilities
90% – Coordinate all SNAP outreach, education, events
• Responsible for educating and enrolling students in SNAP benefits.
• Assist with launching new public benefits program (i.e. Single Stop) and informing SNAP component.
• Responsible for the maintenance of SNAP outreach program and ongoing work to grow the initiative to successfully reach all students on campus.
• Responsible for creating material for social media, website, print material and all educational outreach on SNAP geared towards students.
• Responsible for implementing/planning events online or in person for SNAP registration.
• Responsible for maintaining up to date information on SNAP benefits and program.
• Provides case management support to students who are experiencing food insecurity or basic needs issues to discuss and identify if they are SNAP eligible.
• Coordinates with the Roadrunner Food Pantry to promote and build SNAP education into program.
10% – Student Care Center Support, Crisis Triage, and Trainings
• Carries out special projects on behalf of the Student Care Center and/or the Dean of Students Office that are designed to enhance awareness of public benefits or address basic needs.
• Assists in triaging walk-ins to the Student Care Center.
• Participate in communication/outreach efforts including presentations to faculty, staff, community members and students about the Student Care Center/Dean of Students Office.
• Develop and maintain relationships with community and campus entities to stay updated on services that may be of value to MSU Denver students and/or who refer students to the Student Care Center/Dean of Students Office programs.
• Develops, implements, and reports on assessment methods to evaluate program effectiveness.
• Remains current on higher education case management trends including compliance related issues, effectively working with a behavioral intervention team and basic needs initiatives. Required Qualifications
• Completed Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in social work, human services, psychology, or a related field
• Previous professional experience working with public benefits or case management or otherwise coordinating individual services for students and/or clients Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with SNAP Benefits
• Professional work experience in higher education
• Completed Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in social work, students’ affairs, or a related field
• Experience collaborating and working on teams
