Job Description:
The Outpatient Staff Pharmacist is responsible for processing prescriptions in the outpatient pharmacy in a manner which promotes high quality, cost effective, professional standards of patient care. The outpatient staff pharmacist is responsible for maintaining quality outpatient pharmacy services in compliance with laws set forth by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: processing prescription orders and reviewing patient profiles; preparing, dispensing, and managing medications to support safe and effective drug therapy for patients of all ages; patient interaction, communication and counseling. They provide education to patients, caregivers, health care professionals, students and the public. Performs other duties as required. The Outpatient Staff Pharmacist completes other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Graduate of accredited pharmacy school holding current Ohio licensure
• Two year experience in outpatient or retail pharmacy preferred
• Knowledge of purchasing and strong inventory management skills
• Strong computer skills required
• Skilled and knowledgeable regarding prescription benefit third party insurance billing
• Knowledgeable in physical, chemical, and pharmacological aspects of pharmacy practice with special interest in facilitating innovative pharmacy practice models and programming
Communication and other skills:
• Must be self-directed, motivated and capable of leading supportive personnel
• Should be able to work well with the public and other health professionals
• Must have effective interpersonal and communication skills
• Utilizes effective communication to provide excellent customer service
• Demonstrates effective and culturally appropriate communications
