Director of LiveWell


Coastal Carolina University seeks candidates for Director of LiveWell. The Director is a full-time position and provides leadership to the LiveWell Office, reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President for Student Wellness and Health Equity.


Duties will include, but are not limited to:  oversee University efforts to promote wellness, health, and safety, among University students including programs on holistic wellness, alcohol and other drug prevention, interpersonal violence prevention, and bystander intervention utilizing a socioecological framework including creation and implementation of campus-wide wellness initiatives,  supervision of staff members assigned to provide wellness education, prevention, and service programs; oversight of University Coalitions;  provide training and education for the campus community; develop comprehensive wellness programming including: administer assessments to identify emerging issues, identify barriers that students face in regard to wellness education and accessing services, actively educate self and others in regard to historically marginalized populations’ experiences of wellness messaging and services; adjust and develop appropriate initiatives to address these issues and reporting on progress; investigate the best and most promising empirically based practices to reduce high-risk health behaviors and increase student well-being; oversee office budget and advocate for resources as needed, seek external funding through grant writing to support student wellness programs; oversight of student internship and peer educator programs; coordinate with Dean of Students Office and other relevant staff in determining structure, policies, and procedures regarding AOD prevention and assessment services; oversight of Interpersonal Violence Prevention and Services; Direction of Chant Life Program (Wellness education program for incoming students); determine logistics and scheduling in collaboration with New Student Transition and University Housing staff; oversee facilitator recruitment and training; oversee program budget; and perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements: A master's degree in an appropriate field of study including but, not limited to counseling, social work, psychology or public health is required.  Three (3) years of experience in research project management, substance use prevention, social change advocacy, community leadership, violence prevention, substance use counseling/treatment, or related area are required. Five (5) or more years of experience in research project management, substance use prevention, social change advocacy, community leadership, violence prevention, substance use counseling/treatment, or related area in a college or university setting is preferred.

Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.  Evening and weekend hours expected periodically.
