Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Education - Master's Degree required from an
accredited institution. Doctorate Degree from an accredited
institution preferred.
- Experience - Ten (10) years of educational
administrative experience with an emphasis on higher education
required; three (3) years instructional experience in higher
education required; educational administrative and teaching
experience at a community college level preferred; experience in a
collective bargaining unit environment preferred.
- Skills - Strong commitment to the philosophy
and mission of a comprehensive community college; commitment to
participatory management and shared governance; ability to work
effectively with a diverse population; demonstrated skill and
knowledge of the following areas: program and curriculum
development, effective managerial practices, excellent oral and
written communication skills, presentation skills, assessment of
academic programs and student learning, trends in higher education,
including educational technology, and fostering innovation in the
instructional process; ability to assess learning outcomes and lead
the accreditation process ability to plan, develop, implement, and
direct all academic needs of the College; ability to work
independently and as a team member, prioritize tasks, meet
deadlines, and assign work to others; ability to maintain
professionalism, confidentiality, composure and a student-centered
focus and attitude while carrying out all job responsibilities;
solid mathematical and accounting skills necessary to compute
budgets and financial reports. ESSENTIAL
Position Responsibilities:
Provides leadership and direction in advancing the academic mission, accreditation and implementing the institutional strategic objectives of the College; articulates the College's vision of academic distinction; oversee the College's Education offerings, which include philosophy, assessment, and adherence in all academic programs; oversee the development, organization, assessment, and revision of the College's academic programs and academic master plan; supervise activities of teaching faculty; provide guidance to the library on collection development; oversee institutional research and planning initiatives; oversee the development of academic schedules; evaluate instruction according to College policy and collective bargaining unit agreements; participate in the development and revision of academic policy; oversee and support distance education offerings; collaborate closely with Division of Enrollment Management and Student Development to promote student retention, progress, and graduation; submit and maintain an operating budget that adheres to College guidelines and reflects the long-range plans of the institution; prepare reports and presentations for submission to the President, the Board of Trustees, and other College constituencies; attend Pennsylvania Department of Education and/or Pennsylvania Commission for Community Colleges' meetings; serve as a member of President's Leadership Team, assisting with major decisions of the College; supervises staff, assigns work and work schedules, adjusts priorities, has final authority on approval/disapproval of leave, conducts performance evaluation of staff makes recommendations for hiring and/or termination and problem resolution.
