About the Opportunity:
The Department of Art + Design in the College of Arts, Media and Design, invites applications for open-rank, non-tenure track teaching appointment as an Assistant, Associate or Full Teaching Professor in Animation. We seek candidates with excellent creative practice, innovative pedagogy, significant exhibited and/or published work and commitment to teaching excellence in Animation. Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in and capacity for delivering courses in our undergraduate programs including the Animation Concentration in Media Arts [BFA], Game Art + Animation [BFA], Computer Science + Media Arts Combined Degree [BS], and the Animation Minor.

Responsibilities:
This teaching position entails instructing, coaching and preparing students studying Animation and working with faculty across the College of Arts, Media and Design and Northeastern University to improve the relevance, rigor and quality of outcomes in our offerings. This faculty position will entail a 3+3 course load and service obligations.

Appointment within the Department of Art + Design locates you within a major urban private global research university and a leader in experiential learning, global engagement and advanced research. The College of Arts, Media and Design (CAMD) is a collaborative, diverse community, acting as a catalyst for research, inspiration, and discovery across the University. It brings together a unique combination of disciplines, including Architecture, Art + Design, Communication Studies, Journalism, Media and Screen Studies, Music, and Theatre, and is home to three interdisciplinary research centers: the Center for the Arts, the Center for Design, and the Center for Communication, Media Innovation, and Social Change. Qualifications:
Candidates must have an MFA or terminal degree in a field relevant to Animation and Game Art by appointment start date. The candidate must have a professional practice that will inform and advance the field through creative production, experimentation, and professional collaboration. Evidence of a high level of creative production and accomplishment is expected.

The candidate must be able to teach using professional tools and demonstrate proficiency and/or professional expertise in the following techniques: 3D (animation, modeling, texturing, rigging, and lighting) & 2D (keyframe animation and motion graphics). It is expected that the successful candidate will continue to make work, develop their practice and offer new skills to students in an evolving program of experimentation and innovation. The ideal candidate will also be able to teach and develop courses that engage with a wide array of students and various interdisciplinary contexts and relationships. Applicants with industry background and professional accomplishment in one or more of the following areas of animation are preferred but not required: 3D animation, 3D modeling, visual effects, game art production, cinema, television, character development, illustration, experimental, and immersive media [AR/VR/XR].
