Job Summary

The Financial Aid Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day awarding processes for all academic levels and the preparation of materials for financial aid offer letters and missing information letters. The position will monitor and award Elmhurst University endowed scholarships and their processes. The Financial Aid Specialist will also be responsible for other essential financial aid processes and ensuring compliance in their area. The Financial Aid Specialist will also assist with processes related to the administration of the Federal Work Study program and federal verification. Flexible work arrangements such as remote work will be considered.

Salary Grade

Essential Functions
  • Performs financial aid awarding processes for all student types
  • Coordinates creation and printing of award offer letters and missing information letters
  • Performs R2T4 calculations and adjustments for withdrawn students
  • Reviews and resolves overawards in student financial aid packages
  • Assists with awarding of special programs including tuition benefits and community awards
  • Oversees endowed scholarship awarding and replacement processes
  • Assists with student employment and verification processes
  • Responsible for aid adjustments related to changes in enrollment and housing
  • Assists with developing policies and procedures in their area
  • Assists Director with audits, reporting, and other compliance areas as needed
  • Participates in on-campus functions/activities as needed
  • Assists with customer service as needed
  • Attends trainings and conferences in key areas and maintains an understanding of trends
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in financial aid administration
  • Familiarity with federal and state financial aid regulations
  • Strong communication, organizational, and technical skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in federal, state, institutional financial aid awarding processes
  • Ellucian Colleague experience
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object.
