Concord University is seeking an experienced CIO (Chief Information Officer) to oversee the use of Information technology (IT). The CIO will be the one to lead development of the organization’s IT strategy and ensure that all systems necessary to support its operations and objectives are in place. This includes application development, web services, information security, instructional technology, management of the Banner ERP, user support services, and networking and infrastructure.
The CIO is expected to always keep abreast of new
industry developments and opportunities to improve the efficiency,
performance, and security of information technology, ensuring
maximum value to the organization and its mission.
Lead a team of skilled colleagues to leverage talent to create right-sized solutions that advance the institution in the highest impact areas.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management: The CIO provides direct
supervision and mentoring to technology staff, allocates staff
roles and duties, and promotes opportunities for staff development.
The CIO fosters a culture of teamwork among the
technology staff and builds a strong staff commitment to exemplary
customer service.
Stability and security: The CIO creates an environment
that ensures the integrity of institutional information. This
involves development, oversight, and regular assessment of IT data
security, risk management, disaster recovery and business
continuity planning to ensure processes are in place for regular
review for currency and adequacy. The CIO will act as the
Information Security Program Coordinator and manage
cross-functional efforts to ensure Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA)
compliance.
Implementation and innovation: The CIO implements
technology innovations and improvements based on continual
assessment of institutional technology needs to streamline internal
operations and help optimize their strategic benefits.
Collaboration: The CIO works with all units of the
University to develop, implement and advance an overall shared
vision for campus technology that is enterprising and customer
oriented. · Engages and coordinates with University stakeholders to
identify needs, and establish proposed strategic priorities.
The CIO serves as chair of the University Technology
Committee.
Budget management: The CIO provides effective stewardship
for technology resources.
Strategic planning: The CIO develops a Strategic
Technology Plan in support of the University’s mission and
strategic plan. The CIO develops and communicates a
vision and mission for Technology Services that is supportive of
the entire institution.
Minimum Education
Master's
Required Licenses/Certification
Master’s degree in information technology, computer science, management information systems, educational technology, or other related field.
Required Skills
• Significant experience in IT strategic planning and
substantive knowledge of the impact of technology on teaching and
learning.
• Experience in leading large multifaceted technology projects with
demonstrated success in effective cross collaboration to meet
deadlines and user expectations.
• Strong knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies,
security risks, and challenges facing higher education, such as
cloud/hybrid architecture, infrastructure of smart campuses,
technologies and tools for online asynchronous teaching and
adaptive learning.
• Demonstrated experience creating and managing complex budgets
with the ability to procure funds for investment in technology
hardware, software, people, and services by leveraging grants
and/or other creative revenue opportunities.
• Demonstrated success in supervising and mentoring staff to
maximize job satisfaction and productivity.
Ability to manage staff with diverse work
schedules/locations.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal
skills.
• Proven record of strong customer service that has resulted in
high user satisfaction.
• Experience with managing and negotiating with vendors to foster
positive relationships and minimize institutional costs.
