Executive Director of Professional Relations (Optometry) - (STA009016)



Responsible for the development and coordination of internal and external relations, constituent and community engagement, marketing, awareness of the college, and communications for the College of Optometry. Directs comprehensive external relations, continuing education programs, community engagement, communications, marketing strategies and programs, and serves as communications contact for the college. Interfaces with local, state and national professional organizations, industry representatives, and leaders of non-profits.
  1. Directs and supervises team members responsible for the development and delivery of professional education programs targeting health professional students, residents, and graduate practitioners.
  2. Develops, manages, and supervises individuals responsible for a comprehensive external relations program, including launching public service and outward facing initiatives and strategies, managing a communications, messaging and media relations program to raise the college�s visibility (locally, regionally, nationally and internationally).
  3. Fosters and enhances relationships with stakeholders, influencers, community leaders, and constituent groups to increase awareness of the college�s vision, mission, goals and community impact.
  4. Serves as the colleges primary communication and engagement contact and advises senior administration, faculty and staff in all areas involving communication and other external relations vehicles.
  5. Builds and maintains relationships with campus and community representatives to ensure consistent and accurate representation for the college.
  6. Cultivates partnerships to create and implement innovative professional relation strategies.
  7. Coordinates with the college�s web development team to develop, deploy and manage digital content for college websites, social media, and other communications.
  8. Directs special events, especially as related to continuing education programs and the Dean�s fundraising activities.
  9. Reviews, edits and authorizes copy, and oversees design work on college publications.Performs other job-related duties as required.

Qualifications :

Bachelors and 5 years experience

Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.

Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: None.
