Position Summary

The Program Coordinator – Career Experience – Earn and Learn programs in the Workforce Development Department provides program development and execution activities that support earn and learn program models with major emphasis placed on pre-selection career exploration activities, employer/student interfaces in earn and learn models, and supporting the student journey in earn and learn programs or work-based learning activities. The incumbent must exhibit strong organizational skills, a comfort level with being a self-starter, and the ability to multitask across program areas and audiences.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Program Activity Development


Works with workforce development operations team and the office of talent strategy to vision activities that create career exposures in manufacturing, engineering, and information technology industry areas for students at the K-12 level and adult audiences in the community. Goal is to increase the audience knowledge of potential career selection. Some of these activities may lead to enrollment in earn and learn models for populations that are K-12 specific as well as adult audiences. Additional industry areas may be incorporated over time.

Program Implementation & Maintenance

Executes a career awareness activity plan across identified college and E&L programs areas. Develops program content through contractors. Creates interaction agendas. Arranges events. Identifies execution partners. Works on marketing strategies and materials in conjunction with the College marketing team and others. Conducts program presentations. Implements summer camp activities. Works with K-12 instructional staff on career exposures. Works with community partners and the College Workforce Development Implementation team on adult audience interfaces. Coordinates with internal partners, such as the office of K-12 partnerships, career services, and admissions, to ensure activities are known and approved.

Flex Factor & Tech Core Career Exposures

Launches Flex Factor activities to create awareness of engineering/manufacturing career options and education pathways, focusing on K-12 audience areas in year one. Engages in interactions, training, and planning meetings with a Flex Factor national organization. Collects data sets for reporting to Flex Factor organization. Complies with objectives of a grant framework the College is executing through the Department of Defense. Determines the ability to utilize Flex Factor exposures with opportunity youth audiences (age 18-26).

Utilizing the same framework, launches Tech Corps activities with K-12 audiences focused on Information Technology fields and in partnership with the Tech Corps Columbus Office.

Data Maintenance

Works with the Columbus State Data office, the grants office and Workforce data roles to ensure data structures are sufficient. Coordinates and ensures the implementation of participant in-take and data collection methods.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

Attends all required department meetings and trainings. Ensures College name and image is perceived positively by external as well as internal audience/stakeholders.
Manages multiple assignments of varying complexity with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the College and business partners.

Working Conditions

Normal office working conditions. Regular exposure to moderate noise typical to business offices.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of: Microsoft Office; requisite or willing to gain requisite computer skills needed for data capture or other student support systems; internet research; online communication and record-keeping.


Skill in: program design and execution; presentation skills; incorporating critical thinking, effective communication; program marketing; and partner building; effective time management.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s Degree in a related field. One (1) year of experience in marketing programs or activities with demonstrable experience working collaboratively with diverse audiences or organizations and executing program designs. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
