Position Summary

The Lead Analyst coordinates all office activities in consultation with the Chair of Undergraduate Studies in Education and the Dean's Office. The primary function of this position is to ensure appropriate support to undergraduate branch programs, by assisting the chair, program faculty and program staff. Paramount to this position is the scheduling of classes, providing fiscal information to the chairs for budgetary planning, processing of faculty and staff HR paperwork, and monitoring program functions in conjunction with the chair. The Lead analyst will be expected to participate in continuous improvement process, improving and designing office procedures and workflows in collaboration with the Information Technology Expert and the Branch Chair.

Department Information

The Undergraduate Studies in Education department is housed in College of Education. We serve approximately 1500 students and 80 faculty in three program areas: Child and Adolescent Development, Deaf Studies, and Undergraduate Education/GE. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for children, families, and the community. Our faculty seek to promote academic success in a diverse student population. Our students develop competencies related to their academic and professional lives, becoming responsible advocates for children and families through sound academic preparation in their major field of study.

Minimum Qualifications

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs

Required Qualifications

General Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Expertise in using office software and various online platforms.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures independently, and use judgment and discretion to act when precedents do not exist.
  • Ability to independently solve office and program administration problems relying on policy, precedents, own experience and ingenuity.
  • Ability to analyze operational and procedural problems and develop, recommend, and evaluate proposed solutions.
  • Knowledge of common budgetary and financial practices and regulations in the public administration.
  • Ability to effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels and handle highly sensitive interpersonal situations.
  • Ability to use negotiation and persuasion skills to achieve results and expedite projects through teamwork, giving clear directions and providing feedback and encouragement.
  • Advanced relational skills, and a genuine desire to help students, faculty members, and colleagues.
