Job Description:
The Division of Communication and Creative Media at Champlain College seeks an experienced artist/educator for a full-time Assistant Professor of Game Art. As part of the Game Studio at Champlain College, the successful candidate must have professional experience in Game Development or a closely related industry and a portfolio of current and relevant artwork available for review. Candidates must be collegial and collaborative, and work closely with faculty from other programs. The position is to begin August 2022.

Founded in 2005, The Game Studio at Champlain College, is an established, nationally ranked game-development cohort program consisting of six independent programs: Game Art, Game Design, Game Programming, Game Sound Design, Game Production Management and Game Business & Publishing. These six programs collaborate to create games over four years of study. Game Art faculty bring industry experience to the classroom and emphasize portfolio development using current tools and techniques.

Duties: Teach four courses per semester in foundation to advanced Game Art subjects. Contribute to curriculum development. Help foster and further develop industry relationships. Advise and mentor students. Participate in portfolio reviews of prospective students. Engage in program, division and college-wide service.

Requirements:

  • Industry experience in Game Art or a closely related field.
  • A terminal degree (MFA) and teaching experience are preferred. However, candidates with a bachelor's degree plus significant industry experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Successful candidates will have professional experience with a variety of software used in the creation of Game Art
