Serve as the lead for basic needs, programs, services and support systems; perform a full range of administrative, programmatic, and technical duties in support of the Basic Needs Center at San Joaquin Delta College; and to promote student success, retention, and completion by removing barriers to their education.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general direction from assigned administrator. Incumbent works within a framework of established goals and objectives.

Incumbent in this classification assigns, coordinates, supervises and evaluates the work of others.

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Supervise and manage functions, activities, and services of the Basic Needs Center and support The Student Food Pantry: providing students, staff, and others with specialized information, case management services, training, and assistance related to students' basic needs including food insecurity, housing insecurity, homelessness, physical and mental health, and other needs for educational success, and/or off campus resources.


  1. Represent basic needs in shared governance committees and serve as the chair of the Basic Needs committee; developing the sub-committee agendas and facilitating committee.


  1. Develops and coordinates with appropriate college programs, personnel, community partners, non-profit organizations, and government agencies.


  1. Supervises, trains and evaluates staff, student workers and volunteers as required.


  1. Designs and implements programs in accordance with grant specifications; collects and compiles data to demonstrate compliance with specific grant terms and ensure submission of required reports.


  1. Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the Basic Needs Center; research, implement, and administer policies, procedures, and changing business practices and processes for assigned areas; develop and maintain handbooks, forms, and related policies and procedures.


  1. Administers program budgets and monitors expenditures.


  1. Coordinates meetings and facilitates communication among students, advisory committees, and other program participants and community partners.
  2. Prepares reports and makes presentations on campus and at local and state level workshops and conferences.
  3. Serves as the District's Homeless Student Liaison coordinating and collaborating with relevant departments on campus as well as pertinent community and educational agencies to connect current and prospective students with necessary resources.


  1. Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Support the District in achieving its mission, vision, and strategic goals as appropriate in carrying out the duties of this position;
  • Focus on student success, service excellence, and willingness to assist colleagues District-wide, as needed

Education and Experience Requirements:

Education

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in psychology, social sciences, social work, counseling, special education or a related field. Bachelor's required. Master's degree in a related field preferred.

Experience

Three (3) years of related experience and at least one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience. Experience working with any of the populations listed above.
