Externship & Career Development Coordinator


Location: Boise

Position Summary:
This Externship & Career Development Coordinator provides program coordination and executive management support to the Externship and Career Development Directors, including assisting with managing the related events and meetings; coordinating communications with externship supervisors, employers, and internship coordinators for a variety of government, private, and non-profit entities; and overseeing a variety of processes to ensure accuracy and professional performance by students in applying for internship, externship, and post-law school legal work and in all other matters of communication with the College's constituents, alumni, and externship supervisors. Additional duties include assisting in arranging the Externship and Career Development Directors' scheduling and travel, financial processes, serving as a primary contact for employers looking to hire law students seeking legal work experiences, and providing other administrative assistance for the Directors.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years working in the legal field, academia, or equivalent experience
  • 3 years experience in interpreting and applying regulations or policies and procedures; planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating special projects; independently researching, compiling, developing and summarizing material for reports on a frequent or recurring basis; analyzing information, identifying problems, defining alternatives and developing recommendations for administration
  • Experience in editing and writing business correspondence using proper grammar and punctuation as demonstrated in application materials


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Using computer software and applications for word processing, email, internet searches, and data organization
  • Effective and professional communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Good attention to detail
  • Exceptional editing and proofreading skills
  • Bachelor’s degree OR a combination of education and experience equivalent to at least five years progressively responsible administrative experience
  • Experience with financial record keeping methods; planning and scheduling techniques for administrators
  • University of Idaho or other academic institution’s policies and procedures
  • Working with the Idaho legal community.
