Position Summary:
Responsible for providing core support for admissions and recruitment; provide operational support for BLSE Winter Institutes; compiles and archives program statistics; provides additional support for program operations.

Essential Functions:
Offer is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.

Admissions· Assists admissions director with student inquiries about the BLSE program, admissions & reenrollment, helping with the promotion of BLSE’s public image. · Provides the first point of contact for prospective applicants and processes their requests for materials.· Monitors the application / re-enrollment process from starting point to ready to read: includes assisting students with the application process, keeping them apprised of the status of their applications, and uploading incoming application materials to Slate. · Provides additional support for admissions director and for Slate operations as needed. Recruitment· Works with admissions director to develop robust recruiting strategies, messaging, and new markets.· Assists admissions director in managing recruiting events year-round.· Represents BLSE at in-person and virtual events.· Manages outreach at annual NCTE conference: includes staffing conference booth, arranging alumni/ae gathering, publicizing BLSE conference panels and events, and assisting with travel arrangements, as needed. · Maintains and builds student/alum recruiter program: includes organizing and overseeing student/alum recruiter network, and arranging recruiter orientations.· Works with alumni/ae office, when relevant, to arrange alumni/ae gatherings. Winter Institute· Works with office manager and BLSE administration to support operational side of Winter Institute: includes serving as liaison between Events and BLSE office; gathering information from Middlebury on scheduling, fees, dining, staffing and operational support; assisting with compilation and circulation of institute marketing and registration materials; assisting with housing and room assignments and student/faculty registration; and providing onsite support for Institute itself. Statistics· Collects and compiles program statistics annually for online and residential programs: includes tracking and recording info on enrollments, students, faculty, courses taught (by campus/venue, year, professor), degree information, et al.· Distributes information to appropriate stakeholders within and beyond BLSE/Middlebury.· Updates program archives for Middlebury Library.

General Responsibilities:
Other· Creates and distributes letters of certification for student participation in Writing Center training, continuing education, and Andover/Bread Loaf Writing Workshop. · Sorts and distributes office mail.· Assists in general running of BLSE’s residential and online programs, especially when those programs are in session.


Associate degree required, BA preferred or equivalent experience; some familiarity with humanities education a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent communication skills and willingness to learn how to market the program essential; ability to work easily and flexibly as part of an administrative team and with multiple constituencies.

Proficiency with MS Office applications, especially Word and Excel, required; some familiarity with Slate a plus.
