The Department of Kinesiology at California State University, Fullerton invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor to begin Fall 2022 in Neuromechanics, Biomechanics, Motor control, Neuroscience, or related disciplines. This position is open to candidates with training in a variety of areas, but preference will be given to scholars whose training and work focuses on clinical populations with motor dysfunction. Primary teaching assignments will include both introductory and upper-level biomechanics and motor control courses (e.g., Principles of Human Movement, Human Motor Control and Learning, Biomechanical Analysis of Human Movement, Biomechanics of Musculoskeletal Injury, Motor Control and Movement Dysfunction, Advanced Study in Biomechanics).

Position
CSUF faculty are committed teacher/scholars who bring research and creative discovery to life for students in classrooms, labs, studios, and individually mentored projects. They teach broadly in the curricula of their departments, advise students, and serve on departmental and university-wide committees. The primary responsibilities of the person in this position will include the development and teaching of introductory and core courses in the discipline, and of courses in their area(s) of specialization. This person will also be responsible for producing scholarship and creative activities commensurate with the requirements for tenure. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to and participate in the life and development of the department, advise students, serve on committees, and participate in the broader university and disciplinary communities.

Required Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate in Neuromechanics, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field by the time of appointment;
  • A strong foundation/training in Neuromechanics, Biomechanics research techniques, and Motor Control theories;
  • Demonstrated ability/potential to provide high-quality undergraduate and graduate education to a diverse student population, including first‐generation college students;
  • Record of scholarship in their respective area of specialization; and
  • A demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in teaching, scholarship, and/or service.

    Preferred Qualifications
    The Department is particularly interested in candidates with:
  • Experience working with clinical populations with motor dysfunction.
  • Familiarity/experience with high-impact teaching practices.

    Multiple positions may be hired from this recruitment based on the strength of the applicant pool.

    Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications and is subject to budgetary authorization and any California State University System faculty contract increases. Summer research grants, moving expenses, start‐up funds, and a reduced teaching load may be available.
