The Center for Family Intervention Science (CFIS) at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA has an opening for a postdoctoral research position:

Drexel University’s Center for Family Intervention Science (CFIS) is offering a post-doctoral fellowship for an emerging behavioral health scientist. CFIS is a large and growing research center focused on family-based prevention and treatment of youth suicide and other related disorders. On the prevention side, we have several grants focused on screening and referral in medical, educational, and behavioral health settings. Using a web-based screening program (BH-Works.com), we have screened over 100,000 youth with a general 5% identification rate of youth needing urgent attention. This line of research also yields a very rich data set for young staff and faculty to publish. On the treatment side, we have developed and tested Attachment Based Family Therapy for the treatment of youth depression, suicide, eating disorders and trauma. This empirically supported treatment is used in behavioral health centers around the world supporting research on adoption, implementation, and sustainability. Research staff in the center are typically assigned to one primary study but, are cross trained to help in other areas as well.

This position also offers opportunity for collecting clinical hours for licensure.

Hours per day or week: This position FTE; 40hrs a week; in-person and remote hybrid schedule.

We are looking for candidates that can make a two-year commitment. However, the initial appointment will be for one year. Extension of the position will be based on scholarly productivity, mid-year and year-end progress reports, and availability of resources. The position provides salary and benefits consistent with NIH postdoctoral fellows.

Essential Functions

The postdoctoral position will be responsible for program coordination activities. This might include planning and implementing study protocols, working with community providers, helping training research and clinical staff. This position will also include coordination of data collection systems, analyzing data, and maintaining IRB mandates. Additionally, this position will provide statistical and methodological support for various projects within the center, participate in collaborative publications, and grant writing. Other duties may include:
  • Manage program evaluation and outcome measures small and large projects, depending on interest of the fellow and needs of the center
  • Monitor and evaluate the data collection system and ensure adherence to IRB standards
  • Assist in data collection interviews
  • Monitor implementation of screening tools
  • Implement weekly process / adherence measures
  • Analyze data; develop dashboards and reports specific to project needs
  • Identify program barriers and challenges; troubleshoot to overcome barriers
  • Conduct quality studies to help inform intervention studies
  • Work on secondary data sets to develop collaborative and self-led publications
  • Assist with high level analysis for collaborative publications
  • Support the writing of new grants and in Center and pursue independent grant funding for Center related projects
  • Supervise Research Assistants
Required Qualifications

PhD or Doctorate, psychology, Family Therapy, or related field

0-2 years’ experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong methodological, statistical, and writing skills
  • Experience in data management
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Experience working in diverse communities
  • Works well independently and in a group
  • Experience in public health / psychology / social work preferred
  • Experience with grant writing preferred
