Job Summary

The Assistant Director will be responsible for supervision and coordination of PA SNAP-Ed/EAT RIGHT PHILLY Nutrition Education program activities and presentations. Responsible for direct oversight of Program Managers and Project Coordinator II. Oversees Program Managers in the supervision of nutrition coordinators. Collects pertinent information for report preparation to include staff evaluations, observations, grant reporting documentation and progress reports.

Assists with interviewing, hiring, and evaluation of team members. Responsible for orientation program of new team members. Responsible for review and revision of curricula in the nutrition education program. Interfaces with all levels of management and administration at assigned Program Delivery Sites. Through the Program Director, provides report information for SDP/PA SNAP-Ed as needed to include but not limited to school and community participation, workshops, evaluation, etc. Assists with PA SNAP-Ed proposal and evaluation plan development. Serves as an advanced level nutrition coordinator for curricula review, revision, presentations, and staff development.

Oversees Drexel's Nutrition Education Program website. Prepares professional reports, publications, and presentations. PA criminal background check, FBI Clearance, and child abuse clearance necessary. Master's Degree in Nutrition or related field required. Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist preferred. Minimum seven years relevant professional experience and three years relevant supervisory experience. Must have access to a reliable form of transportation to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. Current ServSafe Manager Certification a plus.

Essential Functions

  • Oversees Program Managers and Project Coordinator II in all aspects of their roles. Oversees Program Managers supervision of nutrition coordinators. This includes scheduling, programming, documentation, and evaluation of team members. Monitors STARtracks and PEARS grant reporting documentation. Oversees orientation of new team members. Coordinates team efforts with student educators and graduate assistants.
  • Prepares professional reports, publications, and presentations. Participates in workshops and conferences as needed. Assists with proposal development. Participates in research and evaluation protocol development, IRB submissions and PA SNAP-Ed, SDP, and Drexel evaluation implementation and reporting.
  • Interfaces with all levels of management and administration at the School District of Philadelphia and other Program Delivery Sites. Oversees relationships with schools, scheduling of site visits to schools and community sites, and programs for nutrition coordinators. Assists with interviewing and hiring. Plans and oversees orientation of new team members.
  • Develops standards of practice for nutrition education team. Monitors nutrition education programs and PSE interventions for quality and consistency through site visits and review of written reports. Oversees development and maintenance of newsletters and web pages for PASNAP-Ed activities.
  • Serves as an advanced level nutrition coordinator for curricula review, revision, PSE opportunities, and professional presentations.
  • Provides ongoing training to the program and support staff of PA SNAP-Ed.
  • Through the Program Director, provides timely reporting information to the School District of Philadelphia, Penn State University, and other Program Delivery Sites, as needed. Collects pertinent information for report preparation to include coordinator evaluations, observations, and progress reports.
  • Maintains excellent working relationships with Program Delivery Site personnel and close relationships with Drexel University staff. Participates in and conducts presentations at conferences, workshops and professional development for teachers, nurses, principals, and staff within the Program Delivery Sites, as needed.
  • Maintains confidentiality of Drexel's and Partners' information. Adheres to policies and procedures of Drexel University. Maintains security of all Drexel, Program Delivery Sites and PA SNAP- Ed property

  • Required Qualifications

    Master’s Degree, Nutrition, or related field

    A minimum of 5 years professional experience

    Preferred Qualifications

    - Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist

    - Current ServSafe Manager Certification
