Position Summary:
Agriculture Research Development Program (ARDP) in the college of Engineering, Science, Technology and Agriculture (CESTA) at Central State University (CSU) is seeking an operations manager to serve for up to five years (with annual renewal pending successful completion of outputs) to fulfill obligations for grant with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) – SUSHI project. This position can in-person or remote with occasional travel to the CSU (Wilberforce) Campus.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for daily administrative and operational activities including scheduling, data tracking, communication between Project Directors, hiring, procurement of goods and services, travel arrangements, and other related post-award support activities. The Operations Manager will coordinate all meetings, share meeting notes, document meeting activities, and ensure completion of assigned tasks. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Manage day-to-day activities of all grant activities including the clerical function and monitoring of the budget.
  • Assist  the Project Director in coordinating interactions between Central State University, sub recipients and National Institute for Food and Agriculture.
  • Develop systems and maintain records that provide for the elevation and continued documentation of assigned activities.
  • Prepare a variety of written correspondence, reports, procedures, directives, and materials
  • Assist Project Director in timely submission of reports.
  • Make travel arrangements, prepare itineraries, and process travel requisitions and reimbursements.
  • Coordinate purchases of all goods and services.
  • Monitor and supervise the technological and operational changes that affect work processes. 
  • Manage and arrange all meetings and visits. 
  • Interview, hire, and supervise student workers.
  • Maintain SUSHI project’s general filing. 
  • Analyze existing processes.
  • Locate bottlenecks and streamline existing processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 


Knowledge Skills and Abilities: 
  • Excellent analytical, oral, written, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills including word processing, and database management knowledge.
  • Proficient in report preparation. 
  • Knowledge of institutions of higher education.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently of direct supervision and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines. 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, office technology, or closely related field. 
  • Experience: Three years of administrative experience. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: Banner/Ellucian and sponsored research project management.
