FULL-TIME TENURE TRACK FACULTY – CANNABIS and URBAN AGRICULTURE
WILBUR WRIGHT COLLEGE


Wilbur Wright College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, seeks an innovative, collaborative, and community-focused tenure track cannabis and urban agriculture instructor effective Fall 2022.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides leadership for the Cannabis Processing Technician program.
  • Develops new curriculum in both cannabis and urban agriculture fields. Employs a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and the attainment of student learning outcomes for the course(s).
  • Teaches courses in urban agriculture. Utilizes technology and active learning strategies in the classroom.
  • Develops relationships and partnerships with four-year colleges/universities.
  • Works with faculty and administrators throughout the district to create pathways for student success in transfer and workforce readiness.
  • Connects with recruiters, administrators, and community partners to establish a pipeline of students for program participation.
  • Collaborates with transfer institutions and employers to ensure academic integrity of courses and programs.
  • Participates in assessment and equity projects at the departmental and institutional levels.
  • Demonstrates excellence in teaching, commitment to integrating new technologies in the learning process, and the ability to inspire, motivate, and empower students to succeed.
  • Creates an effective learning environment that fosters students’ intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve using discipline-specific thinking strategies.
  • Helps students reach their academic, personal, and career goals and cultivates a safe environment that respects the diversity of individuals and ideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn.
  • Adheres to City Colleges of Chicago board rules, policies, procedures, and code of ethics.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s Degree in biology, agricultural education, ecological sciences, weed science, or related field required.
  • Minimum one year of community college and/or university teaching experience required. Community college teaching experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated skill in teaching students in various modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, online).
  • Experience in developing innovative science curriculum at the college level.
  • Knowledge of a learning management system preferred.
  • Experience with diverse, multi-lingual student population desired, as is a commitment to the open access mission of the community college.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with diverse students and staff.
