Job Summary

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at CU Boulder encourages applications for a Professional Development Lead ! Under the direction of the Founding Faculty Director and working collaboratively with a growing team, this position is responsible for supporting professional development activities and crafting resources related to pedagogy, course development, and enriching student learning experiences. These products and processes may take many forms and will be designed in accordance with evidence-based practices, as well as institutional needs and values.

The Professional Development Lead works with academic programs and support services across the institution to identify and/or anticipate instructional needs and to coordinate services and resources to address those needs. As this position will be collaborating with faculty, a terminal degree is preferred.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Programming Development and Delivery
  • Design and implement workshops, tutorials, consultations, etc. related to pedagogy, student success, as well as graduate student and faculty career development in the area of teaching.
  • Develop, organize, and refine content resources related to pedagogy and improving student success.

Instructional Support
Assist faculty and instructional support staff in the following:
  • Individual consultations with faculty, instructors, and graduate student teachers.
  • Support innovative teaching initiatives.
  • Build lessons, courses, or programs that enhance student success.

Collaboration
  • Provide expertise in instructional design and student engagement and success to the CTL team; advise Center Director on trends in higher education pedagogy.
  • Participate as an active team member to implement CTL activities and programs.
  • Remain current with trends in inclusive teaching and UDL, as well as teaching and learning in general.
What You Should Know

This position is expected to work a hybrid format, with some in-person work and some remote work.

What We Can Offer

The salary range is $62,000-$75,000. Relocation assistance is available.

What We Require
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum one year of teaching experience (post-secondary). Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
  • Experience working with persons of a diverse group of backgrounds and identities.
  • Record of successful program research, development, and delivery.
What You Will Need
  • Demonstrated understanding of current best teaching practices and trends in education.
  • Proven instructional development ability (e.g., program/course design).
  • Proven understanding of and expertise with principles and practices of inclusive teaching.
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, presenting, and one-to-one interactions.
  • Familiarity with current literature on evidence-based pedagogy.
  • Ability to work effectively in settings of social and intellectual diversity.
  • Substantial knowledge of national and international standard methodologies in pedagogy.
  • Expertise in individual and group training and coaching.
  • Ability both to work independently and to interact effectively with colleagues, faculty, staff, and students.
What We Would Like You To Have
  • Terminal degree in education and/or a related field.
  • Evidence of professional development (publications, presentations, certifications, etc.).
  • Experience working with and/or leading collaborative teams.
