University of St. Thomas
Core Fellows
Division of Liberal Studies

The University of St. Thomas (UST), a private Catholic University committed to the liberal arts and the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, located in Houston, Texas, near the vibrant central business district, Texas Medical Center, and museum district, is seeking applicants for full-time Core Fellows in the Division of Liberal Studies the School of Arts and Sciences. Core Fellows will form the nucleus of the permanent teaching faculty dedicated to the undergraduate Core Curriculum, which operates as a distinct department in the Division.

Applicants should share the Core's vision of-and commitment to-a classical liberal education in the Catholic Tradition, in a way that embraces the thought of St. John Henry Newman and Josef Pieper. Core Fellows will teach particular academic subjects in their own right, but from a philosophical perspective and with an eye to the interrelations across the core curriculum. More information about the Core Curriculum at the University of St. Thomas can be found at www.stthom.edu/corecurriculum.

Faculty hired as a Core Fellow will be appointed at the Assistant Professor rank. Interested applicants should possess a terminal degree at the time of appointment in one of the following disciplines or an allied field:
1.Art History
2.English or Literary Studies
3.History (including History of Science)
4.Music History
5.Philosophy (including Philosophy of Science)
6.Political Science
7.Theology

A record of teaching excellence is required; competence to teach undergraduates in more than one discipline, and a liberal arts or great books background are both highly desirable.

Applicants, in order to be considered, must submit a complete CV, three letters of recommendation, official graduate transcripts, and a substantive reflection on their expertise as an expression of Catholic mission.

Applications will be accepted until March 15, 2022.

The University of St. Thomas is an Equal Opportunity Employer
