Position Summary:

The Nursing Faculty member develops, implements, and evaluates the nursing program on an ongoing basis. This position participates in selecting students, advising students, curriculum development, program revisions, program evaluations, textbook selection, teaching in the classroom and clinical setting, evaluation of student achievement, and other matters as assigned in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of the University.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Functions as a Lead Faculty for assigned courses. Plans, monitors, and evaluates the instruction provided by Adjunct Faculty assisting with any aspect of the course.
  • Participates in interviewing and makes recommendations for hiring of faculty and adjunct faculty.
  • Participates in developing programs, evaluating and revising student policies, organizational framework and revising curricular offerings.
  • Participates in accreditation reviews and reports
  • Serves as a member of the BSN Faculty and Curriculum Committee, the Nursing Advisory Committee, and other committees as assigned.
  • Serves as an advisor for sophomore pre-nursing students and enrolled nursing students.
  • Participates in the evaluation of current curriculum; designs and implements new curriculum.
  • Develops assigned course and clinical syllabi to reflect the Nursing program’s philosophy, theoretical constructs, course descriptions, program learning outcomes, and student learning outcomes in conjunction with the nursing program chair.
  • Implements laboratory and/or simulation instruction on a weekly basis

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Completion of an accredited professional nursing education program.
  • Current North Carolina active unencumbered license as a registered nurse.
  • MSN required, Doctoral degree preferred, with achievement of NC Nursing Education hours, per Rule NCAC 36 .0318 FACULTY, (or plan to obtain hours within next 3 years). Applicants with an MSN only will be considered for the rank of Instructor, and must agree to starting doctoral studies within one year of hire.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse within the last ten years.
  • Previous experience teaching nursing preferred.
  • Functional abilities to carry out clinical and laboratory teaching responsibilities.
