Position Function

In collaboration with the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Planning and Management and its leadership staff, support the Office of Undergraduate Admissions commitment to attracting and recruiting a qualified and diverse student body, by actively participating in programming and recruiting initiatives, and meeting the university’s overall enrollment goals.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution by time of appointment.

Minimum Experience

Demonstrated and strong commitment to social media, marketing or communications; at least one year of relevant educational, social media, or marketing work experience.

Minimum Other

Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and oral) with a customer service orientation; ability to speak before large groups or audiences; comfort and experience with computer technology; ability to load and transport admissions materials, displays, and other equipment; experience and understanding of social media including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn, TikTok, and video, possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the university’s auto fleet policy.

Authorization to work in the US

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Education

Master’s degree in communication, public relations, video/media, higher education, or related field.

Preferred Experience

Experience working with social media platforms, marketing and video efforts, and understanding of needs of college bound demographics in relation to social media and video platforms.

Requires successful completion of a Drivers License check, Requires successful completion of a background check and education verification.

Job Duty

Manage recruitment territory; possess working knowledge and familiarity of high schools and school counselors in assigned market area to include visit policy, enrollment history (into Ball State), and academic profile of each high school; provide support with targeted recruitment visits to feeder high schools, attend fall and spring visits to attract prospective students by collaborating with the Associate Director of Recruitment for Admissions regarding which schools to visit, making decisions independently regarding timing and scheduling of visits, performing appropriate follow-up, cultivating non-productive high schools, maintaining positive relationships with school counselor professionals, and assessing market culture to meet enrollment goals.

Manage and develop social calendar and oversee Admissions social presence. Collaborate with Marketing and Communication Social Media Strategist to implement paid and organic advertising campaigns along with postings to University social media pages. Plan, design, and create brand alignment of all content and platforms, ensuring brand identity guidelines and best practices are maintained across all visual elements. Responsible for attracting and interacting with targeted virtual communities and network users, developing brand awareness and online reputation to increase engagement and website traffic by utilizing all aspects of social media marketing. Conducts competitive assessment to identify, develop, and draw upon industry best practices both within, and outside of, higher education.

Collaborate with Ball State Marketing and Communications department to develop video strategy and manage all social media channels. Direct all storytelling efforts for Admissions across all communication channels. Drive implementation of communications plans; co-direct the creative development and production of content (social media, digital, video, and print). Work in partnership with Marketing and Communications to develop Admissions photo/video database and photo/video shoots housed within Marketing and Communications but specific to Undergraduate Admissions for usage.

Provide branding and communications support for Undergraduate Admissions. Evaluate communication opportunities to determine which announcements, information, and stories to share via campus communication channels to build awareness for Admissions. Identify measurable social media goals and metrics that advance the mission of Admissions.
