The Office of Community Standards, a department in the Division of Student Development at the State University of New York College at Oneonta, invites applications for the position of Director. Expectations include providing overall administration of the student conduct process, including adjudication of cases, coordination of the appeal process and formation and training of the Standing Disciplinary Board, as well as leadership in the mediation and restorative justice processes. While providing leadership on campus for compliance with laws, statutes, and recent case law regarding higher education, the Director will also maintain relationships with campus and community constituents related to community standards.

Job Description:

Duties include but not limited to: ensuring the investigation and adjudication of alleged violations of the Code of Student Conduct for individuals and student organizations, as well as coordinating the appeal process; developing and implementing a comprehensive assessment plan for the Office; ensuring that training and consultation for residence life staff, faculty, and other campus and community constituents is provided; coordinating the Standing Disciplinary Board hearings and appeal process; and providing training to the board members annually; serving as Chair of the Behavioral Assessment Team and managing documentation and communication for team members; providing supervision for the assistant director and an administrative assistant; overseeing the annual review, revision, and distribution of the Code of Student Conduct; maintaining all records to align with FERPA requirements as well at State/SUNY requirements; serving as a resource to all campus and community constituents regarding conflict resolution; working regularly with the Title IX coordinator to ensure proper investigation and compliance for all cases where sexual violence, stalking, domestic or dating violence is suspected; participating in activities and collaborating with other offices within the Division of Student Development as well as serving on campus committees.


Requirements:

Required qualifications: Master's degree in Higher Education Administration or related field and four years of related experience in a higher education setting.

Preferred: demonstrated experience adjudicating upper-level cases using a hearing board model; experience using mediation and/or restorative justice as a conflict resolution method; demonstrated experience in strategic planning and assessment; experience as a member of a behavioral intervention/assessment team; prior supervisory experience; experience working with and serving diverse populations.
