The Department of Residential Community Life at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for Director of Residential Community Life. The Director will lead a dynamic housing program with nearly 3200 students in 15 residence halls. The Director reports to the Associate Vice President for Student Development and is responsible for all professional, support and student paraprofessional staff within Residential Community life.

SUNY Oneonta enrolls about 6,500 students who pursue bachelor's or master's degrees or certificates in one of 60-plus academic programs. Job Description:

Duties include but not limited to: providing vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the department of Residential Community Life, including staff supervision, budget management, facilities management, policy formulation, contract oversight and compliance, departmental assessment, crisis management, serving as a hearing office in the student conduct process and building partnerships/collaborations throughout the campus community. The Director ensures quality student services and programs that support the objectives of the Division of Student Development; support initiatives that promote student success (retention and persistence); provides programs that promote student learning and community development for students living on campus; maintains a secure and satisfying physical environment through collaborations with facilities planning and maintenance personnel; and aids in implementation of on-going College initiatives. The Director will be expected to efficiently manage a multi-million-dollar budget through strong collaboration with the College's Finance and Administration Division, as well as other stakeholders. The Director supervises a staff of four full time professional employees and is a secondary supervisor to 15 live-in professional staff and over 100 resident assistants (student staff).


Requirements:

Required Qualifications: Master's degree in higher education administration, student personnel, or related field; 7 years' experience in student affairs/development with at least 5 years of management, budget and supervisory experience in a campus housing and residential life operation.

Preferred : Experience developing retention and persistence programs within residence life setting; knowledge of residential computer operations including StarRez; evidence of experience in strategic planning and staff development/team building.
