The Department of Theatre, Dance, and Film Studies invites applications for a one-year, full-time Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre (Acting and Directing) as a sabbatical replacement. The department believes that theatre, dance and film are essential forms of human expression that celebrate creative collaboration and critical engagement with our world. Through the study of the practice and history of these forms, students develop aesthetic appreciation for art and culture, learn flexible problem-solving methods, acquire diverse communication skills and employ creative collaborative processes.

Candidate will be a collaborative and innovator thinker and creator whose primary focus is student success. The artist/scholar will teach six courses distributed over Fall and Winter terms (12 weeks each), including courses in the current curriculum in acting and theatre history, a course in a topic related to their area of experience (preference given to performance-oriented courses that are non-Stanislavskian and non-Shakespearean), and directing a mainstage student production. The appointment begins July 1, 2022.

An M.F.A. or PhD in any area of theatre is required by the time of appointment. Professional experience as an actor or director is highly desirable. Teaching and directing experience at the collegiate level is required.
