The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites
applications for an Assistant Professor of Chemistry
tenure track position beginning August 2022. A Ph.D. in Chemistry
with specialization in Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, or
closely related field is required. Responsibilities include
teaching courses and labs ranging from introductory chemistry to
upper-division organic chemistry/biochemistry, a continuing
research program along with related grant development efforts, and
department service to advance student success. Position is
contingent upon available funding and a satisfactory
background check.
The successful candidate will provide evidence of the
following.
(1) Effective teaching and curricular development in a wide range
of organic and biochemistry laboratories and coordinating
with the corresponding lectures.
(2) Successful experiences on research projects and related
collaborations at the intersection of organic chemistry,
biochemistry, and medicinal chemistry. This should include a
record of success with publications and grant supported
projects.
(3) Mentorship and support of successful student laboratory and
research experiences.
Department programs include an ACS certified Chemistry
undergraduate degree and a recently introduced bachelor’s degree
program in Biochemistry, with 70-80 undergraduate majors total. A
particular department focus is for providing students with
distinctive research and professional development
experiences.

faculty effort at a predominantly undergraduate institution
including research, teaching, and service/engagement.
